UNICEF is a lead agency in monitoring progress toward a number of the Millennium Development Goals - specifically the targets related to hunger, education, child mortality, maternal health, HIV/AIDS and malaria, as well as water and sanitation. The downloadable file provides an overview of the methodology and data sources used for monitoring progress toward the goals, targets and indicators relevant to UNICEF's work.In addition, UNICEF has played a central role in generating interagency consensus around the development of standardized indicators, including those related to monitoring progress toward the WFFC goals as well as key indicators for monitoring progress in child survival.
