DEFINITIONS OF THE INDICATORS *Estimated number of HIV-infected pregnant women:* Estimated number of pregnant women living with HIV as of 2008. *Reported number of HIV-infected pregnant women who received ARVs for PMTCT:* Number of women testing HIV positive during visits to antenatal clinics who were provided with antiretroviral therapy (ARVs) to prevent mother-to-child transmission. *Estimated percentage of HIV-infected pregnant women who received ARVs for PMTCT:* Calculated by dividing the reported number of HIV-infected pregnant women who received ARVs for PMTCT by the estimated unrounded number of HIV-infected pregnant women in 2008 (based on UNAIDS/WHO methods). Ranges in coverage estimates are based on plausibility (uncertainty) bounds in the denominator, i.e., low and high estimated number of HIV-infected pregnant women. The point estimates and ranges are given for countries with a generalized epidemic, whereas only ranges are given for countries with a low or concentrated epidemic.
